How to Enhance Your Effectiveness and Achieve More
Have you ever felt like you’re spinning your wheels, juggling too many projects, or struggling to implement great ideas? You’re not alone. The gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it is where most entrepreneurs get stuck.
That’s why I was so excited to sit down with Faris Aranki on Entrepreneurs Creating OMG Moments. Faris is the founder of Shear Ghetto Consulting, a company that helps teams and leaders sharpen their effectiveness and make better decisions. His journey from being a teacher to working in oil and gas, then becoming a strategy consultant and entrepreneur, has given him a unique perspective on how to achieve more with less effort.

Here are some of the biggest takeaways from our conversation:
1. Reframe Your Label to Open More Doors
When Faris transitioned from teaching to the corporate world, he faced a major challenge: people labeled him as “just a teacher.”
Instead of letting that limit his opportunities, he reframed his skills:
✅ Instead of “teacher,” he became an expert communicator
✅ Instead of “educator,” he positioned himself as someone who can simplify complex topics
✅ Instead of “classroom leader,” he branded himself as someone who can captivate audiences and think on his feet
By changing how he described himself, he was able to shift how others perceived him—which opened up new career opportunities.
🔥 Lesson for you: If people aren’t seeing the value you bring, maybe it’s time to change the way you present yourself.
2. Why Most Strategies Fail—and How to Fix It
Before starting his business, Faris spent 12 years in strategy consulting. He noticed a frustrating trend: companies would pay for brilliant strategies, but never implement them.
The reasons?
🚫 They were too busy
🚫 They didn’t fully understand the strategy
🚫 There was internal resistance or politics
🚫 They didn’t believe it would work
Sound familiar? 🤔 It happens in business all the time—whether it’s a new marketing plan, a sales strategy, or even personal growth goals.
Faris realized that strategy alone isn’t enough. You have to:
✔️ Engage your team so they’re invested in the process
✔️ Remove barriers that keep people from taking action
✔️ Make it simple and easy to execute
🔥 Lesson for you: If you’re struggling to take action on a great idea, ask yourself: What’s actually holding me back?
3. The Pokémon-Inspired Game That Helps Teams Prioritize Better
One of the biggest reasons businesses (and entrepreneurs) fail to execute is trying to do too much at once.
Faris helps companies fix this by using a Pokémon-style game. Instead of long strategy meetings, he turns projects into trading cards, each with its own stats:
🃏 How much will it cost?
🃏 What’s the potential benefit?
🃏 How much effort is required?
Then, teams play rounds of Pokémon, battling projects against each other. As weaker projects lose, they naturally get eliminated—helping the team focus only on the strongest, most impactful initiatives.
The best part? This eliminates emotional attachment to projects that aren’t serving the company, making it easier to let them go.
🔥 Lesson for you: Instead of clinging to every project, prioritize what moves the needle the most.
4. The Power of Publicly Declaring Your Goals
For the first time in his career, Faris publicly shared his nine goals for 2025—and something amazing happened:
💡 People stepped up to help him
💡 Opportunities came out of nowhere
💡 He felt more accountable and committed to achieving them
So many entrepreneurs are afraid to share their goals out of fear of failure. But when you put your goals out there, you invite support, connections, and accountability.
🔥 Lesson for you: Don’t keep your big goals a secret! The right people will show up to help you achieve them.
